An individual will be successful in this role if they are seeking a positive, engaging team environment but thrives with defined, predictable and repeatable responsibilities:
This is a part time, remote role ranging from 20-25 hours per week with the opportunity for additional hours during month-end close.
Working hours will be daily and agreed upon with the hiring manager, with optimal working hours being in the mornings.
This is a temporary, 6-month part-time position, with the potential to extend.
This individual would own the daily critical operations activities, including but not limited to:
Bank account transaction review and general ledger coding (e.g., prepaids, accruals, credit card spend)
Monthly Agent/Partner commission review and coding
Daily Positive Pay review and response for multiple bank accounts (daily process by which the banks flag potentially fraudulent checks)
Assist with data entry and form preparation for various regulatory and tax filings
Weekly review of scanned accounting mail
Other ad hoc activities to support the month-end close process, such as preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
What professional characteristics and experience do you need?
BA/BS degree in Accounting
1-2+ years of experience in corporate accounting. Insurance / financial services experience is a plus
CPA is a plus
Familiarity with US GAAP, familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus
Experience navigating a large ERP environment
Proficiency in MS Office products – intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus
Progressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions
Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff
