Position Summary
The Accounting Assistant (part-time) is responsible for assisting in the accounting activities of Workshop Digital. Under the direct supervision of the VP of People and, optionally, the Controller, you will manage , reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable,, and assist with bi-monthly payroll and certain benefits administration (e.g. 401k). Our AR/AP Assistant will have a strong foundation in basic Accounting knowledge coupled with attention to detail and technical analysis skills.
Responsibilities
Helps in overseeing the accounts receivable (AP) and accounts payable (AR) functions for the company
Assisting in managing the bi-monthly payroll function
Receiving and verifying expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
Facilitating payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
Assisting with benefit administration (ensuring 401(k) deductions and payments are made)
Maintaining generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Ensuring outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifying discount opportunities, and issuing purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
Assisting with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
Recording entry of, verifying documentation for, and distributing petty cash.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Local to Richmond (hybrid)
1+ years of detail oriented Accounting or public accounting and internal controls experience
Proficient with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Problem-solving and collaboration skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, or similar software
Exceptional verbal and written communicator
Communicates independently and effectively with various audiences both internal and external
Detail-oriented
Able to provide clear reporting
Self-starter able to work autonomously to achieve results
High school graduate or equivalent Accounting certification preferred
Experience working in the Digital Marketing industry (SEO, PPC, SEM, Performance Marketing) preferred
Pay Rate
Expected pay range is $19 – 21 hourly, based on experience
