The Role
As the firm’s Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for managing our finances and internal accounting tasks, including month-end financial and KPI reporting. You will also own all day-to-day accounting functions (AR, AP, payroll, etc.) and support our leadership team in forecasting and analyzing business performance.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the SaaS industry and knowledge of applicable GAAP accounting standards (especially ASC 606). Strong technology skills and prior experience with Sage Intacct advanced modules are a differentiator.
This position will initially be part-time (25 hours per week) and will report directly to our CEO.

You’ve worked in accounting for a high-growth SaaS startup or professional services firm
You have experience preparing financial statements and KPIs for executive leadership
You are looking for a flexible work schedule averaging around 25 hours per week
You have prior experience with Sage Intacct or NetSuite at an intermediate to advanced level
You have strong technical accounting skills and experience with building financial models
You excel at creating process and structure in ambiguous and occasionally chaotic circumstances
You are extremely organized and detail-oriented but can step out of the details and see the big picture
You are naturally curious, observant, and fascinated by solving problems
What you’ll do
Take ownership of all internal financial operations (billing, payroll, AP, etc.)
Complete month-end close with appropriate reconciliations/support
Prepare revenue recognition entries and schedules consistent with SaaS industry practices
Prepare internal financial reporting and KPIs for the leadership team
Collaborate with the leadership team on financial forecasting and budgeting
Manage the financial aspects of the firm’s key strategic and vendor partnerships
Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns; manage state registrations and compliance
Identify and implement software solutions to automate client billing and other accounting processes
Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal accounting and financial matters (insurance, banking, year-end taxes, etc.)
As a part-time role, this position will be compensated on an hourly rate basis commensurate with experience, and will not be eligible for benefits.

A secure place to work from home with no interruptions
A reliable high-speed internet connection
Ability to work independently and self-manage competing priorities and deadlines
Strong technology skills and experience working with modern business SaaS applications and communication tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Box, etc.)
Must be comfortable communicating and meeting with clients and team members in a virtual environment (including frequent video meetings)
