The Opportunity -Executive Director of Business Development
As the Executive Director of Business Development you will facilitate the growth and development of Boeing Defence Australia Limited’s (BDA) core business in support of BDA’s strategic objectives and Long Range Business Plans (LRBPs). You will also facilitate the sales and growth of Boeing Defense platforms and services within the Australian marketplace.
The Executive Director of Business Development is a key member of the broader Business Development Team and plays a critical role in BDA-wide business development activities, including identifying, shaping and qualifying new business opportunities as well as supporting regional growth initiatives across Oceania and South East Asia.
This is a challenging leadership position requiring versatile leadership with a premium on modelling a global leader mindset, broad collaboration, influence, resilience, and leading the business development team to achieve positive results through its expertise.
Reporting to the Managing Director with a strong connection to the broader Boeing Enterprise Business Development team, this role will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team;
Responsible for effectively leading multiple managers and their teams to close key orders in Australia;
Oversee key campaign activities and strategies, ensuring excellence in solution development,execution of customer engagement and managing stakeholder timelines and responses;
Develop, manage and implement new business opportunities, including those identified in the BDA, BDS, and BGS Long Range Business Plans;
Work closely with BDA business leaders to appropriately address identified customer needs;
As the leader of the BDA Business Development Leadership Team, responsible for the development of strategic goals and objectives;
Manage, develop and oversee campaign Capture Team/Sales Leads, ensuring that campaigns are developed according to BDA’s strategic direction, corporate policies and guidelines;
Represent BDA and BDS with key stakeholders in customer community, government, industry, and media;
Liaise with US Embassy in Australia to include the Office of Defense Cooperation in support of BDS sales;
Establish, develop and maintain effective business relationships at executive/senior levels with BDA, BDS and The Boeing Company and current and prospective stakeholders (ie Defence, current and future business partners), demonstrating unprecedented customer understanding;
Collaborate closely with Boeing colleagues in Australia, including the Boeing International Country Vice-President, the Boeing International Team, and our Australia Industry Partners;
Select and manage sales and growth pursuits within existing markets in accordance with the IBAP;
Establish and manage New Business Funds.
To thrive in this environment, you will be:
Experienced in providing services to government and defence partners, complex work package development and integration of new and emergent technology;
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience to influence internal and external stakeholders;
An excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams;
Outcome focused and able to demonstrate strong values-based leadership;
Systematic and logical with high proficiency in problem-solving skills.
You will need to have:
Minimum of ten (10) years of successful experience in a significant customer relationship role with substantial positive outcomes;
Significant general management experience, with exposure to capability development, system support and maintenance, business development, strategic planning and execution and customer engagement/marketing;
Demonstrated business acumen and experience in developing and managing financial and resource plans to support business imperatives;
Ability to build and sustain strong relationships, working with managers from a diverse array of business cultures and disciplines in order to achieve common goals;
Sound understanding of Defence procurement processes;
Ability to generate innovative options and solutions to customer requirements.
