As a Junior Product Designer at GovX, you will be responsible for designing solutions that both add value to our customers and work for the business. We’re looking for someone with an intellectual curiosity that aims not just to design features, but to delight users through every interaction.
The position requires a practical understanding of user research, interaction design and visual design.
You will conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to validate both pre-design assumptions and prototype solutions
You will clarify product requirements through UI models, interaction flows and screen designs, with an emphasis on ease-of-use and optimizing the user experience across devices
You employ lean design practices to foster quick iterations based on customer & stakeholder feedback
You take ownership of the design process end-to-end, culminating in hi-fidelity mock-ups ready for development
You have a track record of designing solutions around reusable components and consistent patterns that speed up the development process and create consistent user interactions
You manage your time working as a member of the agile team, meaning you’re staying ahead of the sprint cadence to allow time for testing and stakeholder input as appropriate
In this role, you will be asked to deliver solutions to real customer opportunities in ways that grow and support the business.
You must be passionate about understanding our customers (both B2B and B2C), showing curiosity about their motivations and empathy for the challenges they face.
You must practice data informed decision making, using site analytics and other business intelligence tools to test hypotheses and validate designs.
At all times, you should have a clear understanding of how your customers are using your product, grounded in data.
You will become a recognized product expert within the organization and should be able to effectively explain design decisions to internal stakeholders.
You must be able to develop expertise in how all functions of the business perform and demonstrate an ability to incorporate business constraints into your solution designs.
You will be expected to maintain a working knowledge of the industry, including the competitive landscape and technology trends.
You will work as part of a cross-functional Agile product team, including:
You work closely with product management to clarify requirements through designs that facilitate rapid prototyping
You validate designs with Engineering to ensure product feasibility and consult during the sprint to ensure smooth implementation
You communicate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and educate the team regarding design decisions and direction
