Production Supervisor at Illumina, Inc.

Illumina is actively seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Manufacturing Supervisor responsible for providing effective leadership and supervision to production personnel. The candidate will ensure all team members and operational activities are following cGMP standards.  The candidate will partner cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Facilities, E&HS, OpEx, CI, and other groups to develop and optimize current manufacturing processes.  Additionally, the candidate will foster and champion a continuous improvement culture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Production Leads and Team Members to ensure that day-to-day production needs are met.

  • Identify resource needs, as well as ensure that the production schedule is met.

  • Ensure a work environment exists for employees that provide effective communication between all shift team members to effectively communicate concerns regarding production.

  • Set the direction relative to manufacturing goals to meet production needs and expectations.

  • Identify and communicate information to correct Production disciplines relative to product quality and defect prevention, product disposition, as well as rework and/or repair activity.

  • Communicate and assist in the resolution of part shortages or the expedition of product.

  • Evaluate, Monitor, and react to personnel allocation in the Factory including the use of overtime in conjunction with production needs.

  • Monitor and prioritize aging material orders.

  • Provide coaching, feedback, and career growth guidance.

  • Responsible for understanding and providing input to capacity planning as customer’s production demands fluctuates.

  • Determine and communicate the direction relative to housekeeping and safety practices.

  • Support of Company goals and metrics.

  • Act as a role model to Production personnel and be recognized as a leader within the manufacturing site.

  • Preparing and delivering performance reviews. 

  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience and 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing and production environment required.

  • Experience with automated DNA Sequencing Instrumentation

  • Experience in inventory control, SAP or similar

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

  • Have a command of GMP regulations as they pertain to clinical diagnostic products and expertise in transitioning processes from R&D to a manufacturing setting

Experience/Education:

  • Thorough knowledge of processes.  Point person to resolve issues elevated by support personnel.  AA Degree or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s, in applicable field or equivalent desired. Typically has 5+ years of direct work experience, with 0-2 years of Supervisory experience.
