Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally, works under close supervision, or within well-established guidelines to complete tasks and duties assigned.


Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Front Office Operations ROCT, the Project Manager manages assigned tactical support efforts as well as overall project management of specific projects in support of strategic business objectives for Corporate Resort Operations. Specifically, the proper preparation, management, and execution of Technology projects for the Corporate Resort Operations Team. 


Projects and support efforts are varied in scope and duration and encompass one or more of the following project management elements: project definition, performance metrics and reporting, pre-planning, project support, tactical operations support, research & analysis, development of deliverables, development of associate resources, timeline development and management, implementation of deployment plans, training development, training content management, communications strategy development & communication asset development, manage project triage and on the ground field support with occasional travel needs.


This Project Manager role will specifically be responsible for supporting technology projects and development initiatives that flow out of the overall MVW corporate transformation, in addition to Marriott International led MVW impacting technology projects and Resort Operations initiatives.

As a contributor in this role, the Project Manager will support meetings with business leaders across the corporate and property landscape in alignment with assigned projects. 


The Project Manager will work closely with other MVW, MI and vendor project managers and leaders to ensure overarching Project alignment, to ensure an optimal deployment environment and thorough resources for our Resort Operations associates across the globe.  Build and maintain standard operating procedures, Trip pages, outstanding issues tracker and job aids that utilize current technologies. 


Expected Contributions

  • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.

  • Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk. 

  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.

  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

  • identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.

  • providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.

  • participating in setting department operating plans.

  • recognizing and celebrating team successes.

  • achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.

  • Performs other duties as appropriate.


    This position supports the day-to-day, management and execution of assigned projects and meeting project goals, namely:   

    • Establish and monitor administrative procedures for the project.

    • Keep Director, Front Office Operations ROCT, management, project owner and larger team informed on progress of project.

    • Training & Resource development and training content management

    • Completion of required documentation within the specified timeframe for overall project timeline adherence purposes.

    • Work closely with the MVW, MI and vendor corporate business teams, and Site Operations Team as appropriate.

    • Lead direction, planning, execution on implementation of Resort Operations impacting projects.

    • Stays informed of current industry trends; identifying opportunities for learning and applying new concepts to improve project management approaches.

    • Adapts, and positively reacts to changes within work environment.

    • Promotes continuous improvement standards as related to the work environment.

    • Builds and manages relationships with corporate business leaders and IT partners globally.

    • Ability to work as a team member or leader at times in resolving issues.


    Candidate Profile

    Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows: Usually, a professional position with general knowledge in a discipline (i.e., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology).  College degree and/or related experience typically required.



    • Requires BS/BA degree in business field or equivalent training and on-the-job experience.

    • PMP Certification is an advantage.



    • Minimum of four (4) years’ resort operations, project and change management experience with direct accountability for property operations, project, training, and deployment management.

    • Experience in other Resort Operations disciplines is an advantage.

    • Five (5) years’ experience supporting small- to medium-sized projects from initial concept to implementation and ongoing adherence

    • Relevant process experience to identify improvement opportunities, apply change and measure performance of such improvements.

    • Must be a self-starter, well organized, and possess a strong attention to detail.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple projects.

    • Professional demeanor and appearance; strong communications and interpersonal

    • Goal oriented, self-motivated

    • Able to maintain a team environment and interact well with all levels of the organization.



    • Excellent Documentation, Diagramming (i.e. workflows) and Project Management documentation Skills

    • Strong MS Office 365 application Skills (i.e. Excel, Visio, Word, Teams, Outlook).

    • Microsoft Projects experience preferred.

    • Advanced interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams, customers, and senior management to achieve solid partnerships and results.

    • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and detail oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute on tasks and initiatives.

    • Operational and Technical Problem-Solving Skills.

    • Must be a self-starter, well organized, detail and goal oriented.

    • Excellent verbal and written communications.

    • Position requires ability to work effectively with others (team player).

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and commitments concurrently.

    • Ability to follow procedures accurately and consistently.

    • Must be able to work varying schedules to accommodate a global environment.

    • Ability to travel as required. Extensive travel, upwards of 50% expected for select projects
