Quality Control Operator at Chevron

Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., is accepting applications for the position of Quality Control Operator located in Richmond, California, through March 31, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Quality Control Lab Operator C, located in Richmond, California

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Position is located in the Richmond Lubricants Plant Laboratory.

  • Supports the operations of the Richmond Lubricants Plant, testing all incoming components needed to manufacture lubricants and all the finished products.

  • Performs routine physical, chemical and spectroscopic tests on finished lubricants, base oils and additives using ASTM or Chevron methods.

  • Performs calibration of instruments to ensure equipment is within tolerance per ASTM.

  • Accurately records test results and verifies them against method precision statements and product or component specification.

  • Receives and assists in obtaining representative samples from railcars, transport trucks, base oil and additive tanks, and finished product tanks for testing.

  • Prepares samples for shipping, making sure that samples are representative of quality required for each shipment.

  • Performs data entry of chemical and physical property into the Formulation and Blending System (SAP).

  • Participates in or conduct SLTs on a monthly basis, adhering to scheduled deadline.

  • Responsible for maintaining lab, warehouse area, and break room cleanliness on a daily basis.

  • Performs other such work as requested by the Senior Quality Control

  • This position requires driving on a routine basis

Required Qualifications: ​

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 4 years of work experience

  • Valid Driver’s Licenses

  • Must be able to work a rotating 8-hour shift, overtime as required and on-call

  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or other applicable science disciplines

  • Minimum of two years working in a laboratory or similar technical environment

  • Knowledgeable with test methods, lab procedures, ASTM and equipment commonly used for Lubricants products

  • Performance/Achievement: Sets high standards of performance for self and own work group

  • Teamwork: Fosters cooperation and collaboration among individuals in a work unit • Ability to perform

  • Ability to have successful working relationships with business partners, both internal and external

  • Experience and aptitude for solving problems

  • Ability to multi-task as well as the ability to organize and prioritize work

  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision •

  • High commitment to safety and protecting the environment

  • Ability to analyze and survey data to draw valid conclusions
