Software Systems Engineer at Apogee Engineering

Apogee is seeking a Software Systems Engineer located at Los Angeles SFB, CA in support of Space Systems Command Chief Information Officer (SSC CIO). What you will be doing:

  • Provide support with a strong understanding of network management (i.e. bandwidth and latency) and data transport requirements across a Government network, as well as cloud-based IT infrastructure solutions.

  • Support Digital Transformation efforts within the Command to help implement an industry-accessible Digital Engineering Environment/Infrastructure to support a collaborative design process.

  • Help define a Command-wide digital engineering environment roadmap/strategy.

  • Participate in digital engineering implementation forums.

  • Assist in defining PEO requirements for digital engineering solutions.

  • Track weekly status updates of Digital Engineering Environment implementation efforts.

  • Assist in developing program and people on-boarding processes.

  • Assist in solving technical challenges to improve the user experience of the Digital Engineering Environment.

  • Work with the Cloud Service Provider to optimize, scale, and sustain the Command’s Digital Engineering Environments in alignment with the SSC vision and mission.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to support the Government’s implementation plan for upgrading the base network infrastructure.

  • Support CIO Market Research, and report development, on the latest Agile and DevSecOps tools.

  • Generate DevSecOps and Agile Methodologies Standards that will be applicable throughout all of SSC

  • Provide written and verbal inputs to Government DevSecOps implementation strategy and plan, standardization, and adoption.

  • Participate in meetings and working groups with program offices, senior leadership, USSF, DAF, and DOD personnel to facilitate improvements in software development by SSC program offices.

  • Provide input on any impacts of cybersecurity on software development, deployment, and sustainment.

  • Develop and deliver an SSC Agile and DevSecOps Implementation Plan This document shall contain an approach and a roll-out plan of how the Government will implement Agile and DevSecOps methodologies and principles across all of SSC Programs of Records.

  • Support CIO in development of implementation status reports. Status reports will include milestone progress, risks and issues, and financial reporting regarding programs being supported.

  • Host and/or participate in meetings, such as working group meetings, with Government and contractor organizations as directed by the Government in support of the software development guidebook and other standardization efforts

  • Attend meetings, in person and/or virtually, and provide support for time sensitive and/or classified actions with respect to the software development guidebook.

  • Prepare presentation materials, special technical reports, and/or papers as requested, and provide the Government with copies of all materials presented at the meetings.

What you’ll need:

  • Security clearance required: Secret

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software development or related field and 5-7 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in Software development or related field and 3-5 years of experience

  • Experience in Network Development

  • Experience in IT methodologies

  • Experience in DevSecOPs and Agile methodologies
