Job Description

Sr. Industrial Engineer at McKesson Corporation

The Senior Industrial Engineer will work closely with Operations Leadership to execute strategic priorities in the business. The IE is responsible for ideating, developing, supporting, and executing projects that will improve our warehouse and plasma operations. The IE will lead detailed engineering activities on facility/WMS/process/operational changes, from conceptualization to implementation; develop process flow maps, develop material storage and handling specifications, set up and lead internal and external collaborative meetings, works with vendors to obtain quotes (if necessary), and manage full project lifecycle by leveraging project management software such as Smartsheet. The applicant must be able to identify opportunities, resolve problems, set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work and communicate effectively.  Additionally, the applicant should have the ability to collaborate across the warehouse, inventory, IT, and management teams for the broader McKesson distribution networks.

Additional Responsibilities include:

Process Optimization and Efficiency

  • Process Analysis & Documentation: Conduct thorough analysis of existing distribution processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

  • Workflow Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design streamlined and optimized workflows, ensuring efficient movement of pharmaceutical products while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

  • Lean Six Sigma: Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

  • Automation Integration: Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to improve operational speed & accuracy.

  • Capacity Planning: Analyze current and future distribution needs, reviewing demand forecast to ensure the facility’s capacity meets our clients’ needs

  • Improves KPIs: Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls. Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • DSCSA: Will help improve the effectiveness of warehouse, WMS and RF processes to meet all requirements of DSCSA regulations by working closely with IT and DC operations.

  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to processes (SOP’s, work instructions), quality control procedures, and compliance measures.

  • Continuous Monitoring: Establish mechanisms for ongoing monitoring of quality metrics, promptly addressing any deviations or issues to maintain high standards of pharmaceutical distribution.

Project Management

  • Project Planning: Organizes, leads, and facilitates cross-functional project teams by develop project plans for process improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean or Six Sigma), outlining objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and key milestones.

  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular project updates, status reports, and performance metrics to senior management, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and outcomes.

  • RFP Support: Prepare request for proposal (RFP) documentation and specifications for packaging supplies as well as support sales in responding to client RFPs.

Change Management

  • Lead Change: Serve as a change agent focused on the success of our business and its customers. Lead through influence and collaboration across multiple levels of the organization, drive adoption of tools and help drive consistency in processes across distribution centers, 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, such as program management, operations, quality, inventory management, and IT, to ensure alignment, develop analytical models and execute on our strategic initiatives. 

Data Analysis and Optimization

  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure DC performance, the effectiveness of process optimization efforts and identify areas needing attention.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights to conduct root cause analysis for operational issues, facilitating targeted solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Decision Support: Provide data-driven recommendations and insights to guide strategic decision-making, helping the organization achieve its goals for efficient pharmaceutical distribution.

Training & Education

  • Supports the training, deployment, and enhancement of WMS & other operational processes in support of improvement projects

  • May deliver presentations and training courses including new functionality, measurement, analysis, improvement, and controls

Inventory Management Support

  • Analyzes client data and develops order profiles, inventory profiles, and velocity to help inform slotting, storage, and packaging needs.

  • Collaborates with IT and Operations teams by providing necessary data on locations, zoning, pick path sequence, etc., to drive efficiency in the operations. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, business management, logistics, or other related discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a distribution environment, healthcare distribution is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of IE / Lean tools and principles as applied to warehouse distribution

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations and standards (CGMP).

  • Knowledge of WMS feature/functionality (ideally SAP WMS)

  • Project management experience, including planning, execution, and resource management.

  • Advanced analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, SAP, BOBJ, Smartsheet etc.).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on quality and compliance.

  • Ability to effectively communicate process and technical concepts to a variety of audiences from entry level warehouse employee to executive level

  • Must be PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, etc.)

In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$94,300 – $157,100
