Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for providing hands-on maintenance and repair services to all areas of winery operations including equipment, infrastructure, fixtures, furnishings and buildings.  Through utilizing a computerized maintenance management system, performs routine and preventative maintenance of all winery equipment under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Safely follow all operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety.

  • Independently performs routine and preventative maintenance of all winery facilities to include but not limited to: Cellar equipment – pumps, hoses, valves & fittings, storage racks, filters, cross flow; Crush equipment – de-stemmers, pumps, presses, conveyors, screw augers, and hoists. 

  • Independently performs routine and preventative maintenance of all winery facilities to include but not limited to: Water supply and distribution; Wastewater and storm-water systems and processes; Heating and cooling systems; space conditioning systems; compressed air and gases production storage and distribution; wine tanks and catwalks; Buildings – production, offices and visitors center. 

  • Sound electrical understanding and troubleshooting skills – 3-phase power distribution and motors; Control circuits (2-wire, 3-wire, holding circuits); Control components (Push-buttons, photo-electric switches, limit switches, relays, contactors & V.F.D.s); PLC’s and Ladder logic diagrams.

  • Ability to operate and be licensed and certified to operate power industrial equipment including forklifts, booms, scissor lifts etc.

  • Working knowledge of fabrication equipment and techniques, including welding (MIG and TIG), brazing, lathe operation, etc. Ability to fabricate and/or modify repair parts for winery facilities and equipment.

  • Strong understanding of refrigeration processes and equipment (Glycol and/or Ammonia) and experience maintaining and repairing related process equipment.

  • Leads process improvement projects that require technical repairs/modifications/upgrades.

  • Ability to work off-shifts/overtime depending on business needs

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance and repair experience

  • Ability to operate power industrial equipment

  • Valid CA Driver’s License

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot critical issues independently

  • Fabrication and electrical repair experience

  • Ability to safely operate and use hand and power tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance and repair experience

  • Strong electrical and controls/PLC troubleshooting experience

  • Demonstrated experience in sanitary welding and fabrication

  • Extensive knowledge of cooling (glycol) systems and equipment

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Works outdoors/indoors

  • Works in warm/cold climates

  • Works in high places or on elevated platforms/equipment

  • Works on wet surfaces

  • Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or chemicals

  • Works near moving, mechanical parts and heavy industrial truck traffic

  • Must be able to move up to 55 lbs

  • May travel to other sites to provide support on an as-needed basis

The salary range for this role is:

$27.31 – $43.62

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. We offer comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.
