Systems Administrator I at TransCore LP

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a System Administrator I to join our Back-Office Operations Team in Raleigh, NC.

Summary:  Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware.  Installs configures, and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, servers, and network issues in a heterogeneous environment. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • This is an onsite position for the local Raleigh TransCore Office (Mandatory)

  • Responds to requests via the helpdesk in the most expedient manner possible.

  • Receives, configures, and installs requests for personal computers.

  • Provides desktop and hardware support.

  • Provides troubleshooting and repair for minor network solutions.

  • Maintains servers, user accounts, and file/print permissions as required for both internal and remote users.

  • Daily system maintenance review, such as systems log, antivirus server logs, etc.

  • Performs daily backups.

  • Interacts with vendors.

  • Installs and configures computer equipment.

  • Driving is a requirement for this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience:  

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is a minimum requirement

  • 1 – 3 years of Systems Administration experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Azure

  • Strong Installation and Trouble-shooting Skills (systems & equipment)

  • Ability to work on call, off hours, and rotational shifts, as required, in the support of IT operations

Desired Knowledge and Skills:  

  • SolarWinds or other monitoring software

  • General network switching and routing

  • Operating Systems (Windows, UNIX, etc.), Window Server 2016 & 2019

  • Knowledge and experience with system administration; Windows 7,10, Windows Server, Linux

  • Knowledge in the following technologies: Windows, Hyper-V, Linux, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, Scripting (PowerShell, Bash), SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, SANs (FC /iSCSI), CIFs/NFS, TCP/IP, VLANs, MDT, WDS
