User Experience (UX) Director at NEWMARK

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director of User Experience (UX) is a hands-on UX role that uses both user research and interaction design skills to shape the direction of software product experiences while leading and coaching a team of UX Designers. You will work on various Newmark software products to support our internal and external customers. As a UX leader, you will provide your expertise across the organization, help inform priorities and roadmaps, influence ways of working, and help our business achieve their “north star”.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Managers, Engineers, and other team members to design intuitive, delightful experiences

  • Contribute to early-stage discovery and product definition by developing an understanding of users (personas), framing the problem, generating design principles, developing concepts and models, and evaluating current state experiences

  • Conduct user research and secondary research to inform and improve experiences

  • Translate requirements and user needs into tangible interaction designs through detailed user flows and wire frames

  • Communicate design decisions, rationale, and direction through presentations and other documentation

  • Contribute to the development of interaction patterns and promote the use of Newmark’s design system

  • Manage and grow UX talent

 

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Formal education in Human Centered Design, Design Methods, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or related field

  • 12+ years of related experience

  • A deep understanding of design, usability, and research best practices

  • Experience flexing between design strategy and planning and design execution

  • Experience designing complex, data-intensive applications

  • Experience designing for mobile

  • Experience contributing to a pattern library or design system

  • Proficiency in common wireframing tools

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Strong understanding of how to use data and metrics to inform designs

  • Work samples that show how you broke down complexity, empathized with the user, and balanced user needs, business needs, and technical considerations

  • Ability to travel within the US between 10 – 15 percent of the time
