Role Value Proposition:

The Senior Financial Analyst position is a pivotal role within the Global Technology & Operations (GTO) Finance Department supporting MetLife’s Global Technology organization representing an annual spend of $1.5B. The role involves financial reporting and analysis, as well as providing financial and business advisory support to leadership and members of senior management. This individual will specialize primarily in producing, analyzing, and monitoring financial expenses for the purpose of developing recommendations to senior management on financial risks and opportunities. This individual will also play a critical role in a collaborative team environment to help facilitate the completion of realistic budgets and forecasts, monitor month-end and quarter-end financial closes, and offer solutions to financial challenges and obstacles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates effectively with the team and related business partners to coordinate and develop monthly forecasts and annual budgets, including the completion of workforce planning objectives.
  • Supports in the month-end close processes including journal entry review, vendor and transactional expense analyses, daily expense projections, and the preparation of financial variance commentaries.
  • Uses financial systems to collect data and conduct analyses, offering informed recommendations based on results.
  • Leverages financial systems for data collection and analysis, providing well-informed recommendations derived from the findings.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 5-7 years of Finance, Accounting and/or financial analysis experience within a fast-paced corporate environment. Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and comprehension in accrual accounting principles and forecast methodologies.
  • Effective understanding of financial reporting practices and principles, project management techniques, and can demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Shows business maturity, has strong presence, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally with business segments and neighboring finance departments.
  • Proficient with ledger and financial reporting tools with a focus on querying data from multiple tables and source systems. Experience with Peoplesoft and Oracle-based applications is a plus.
  • Accelerated Excel modeling and database management skills are key. Ability to synthesize significant datasets into clear concise communications and visualizations.
  • Fosters a continuous improvement mindset and enjoys exploring innovative enhancement opportunities.
  • BA/BS, preferably in Finance or Accounting
