May include: • Maintain tooling to insure quality production parts • Read & interpret blueprints/drawings and job orders for product specifications • Set-up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as Lathes, Mills, presses, grinders etc., to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications • Teardown, clean, maintain and repair die components and dies • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances • Build Jigs & Fixtures • Modify and create CNC programs as needed • Identify trouble areas and determine corrective action. Works with production personnel to address various stamping, welding, or fixture issues • Suggest and implement machine improvements to increase machine speeds, part quality, and overall productivity • Implement Engineering Changes/design modifications on existing tooling • Follow all safety protocols and practices and maintain good housekeeping • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.
Nature & Scope • Works within well-defined instructions • Uses established procedures and works under supervision to perform assigned tasks. • Work is closely supervised.
Knowledge & Skills • Thorough knowledge of Machine Shop Practices • Thorough knowledge of Die Theory • Strong knowledge of Sheet metal fabrication – manual and automated presses including hard and soft tool • Experienced in Progressive Tooling • Working knowledge of measuring tools, hand tools & various machining equipment • Must have the ability to trouble-shoot tooling problems • Ability to read & interpret blue prints, specs and work instructions • Math skills: add, subtract, multiply and divide • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures including wearing and using required PPE at all times • Maintain a clean and safe working environment • Must be able to work well with other members of the department • Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job.
Competencies
Experience • 4+ years of experience in tool & die sheet metal fabrication & machine shop
Education/Certification • High school diploma or GED equiv. • Tool & Die Apprenticeship Certificate a plus
