In order to manage data in multiple environments I converted the software from a single user environment on each diagnostic machine to redirect data to a central SQL database in Informix with a central printer. At the time the only choice for a network operating system was Novell NETWARE. Windows Server replaced this in subsequent years.
The fact that it was an SQL based database system meant the generation of reports not included in the manufacturer’s software.
