Position Description: Operate power construction equipment to facilitate scope of work required on project.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
- Fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications to complete job assignment.
- Collaborate with Project and/or Trade Foreman for scheduling and expediting delivery of materials and equipment.
- Operate power construction equipment to facilitate scope of work required on project. Power equipment includes but not limited to earth moving, excavation, material handling, aerial, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, skid steers, back hoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, street sweepers, forklifts, shooting boom forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, initiate and facilitate repairs as needed.
- Clean and maintain physical appearance of equipment.
- Maintain fuel storage area and order fuel, as needed.
- Manage and track utilization of rented equipment onsite. Document condition of equipment upon arrival and pickup. Report any damage to Superintendent.
- Manage subcontractor utilization of Turner equipment and report damage to Superintendent.
- Manage controlled access areas for operating equipment, loading, and unloading.
- Assist with installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.
- Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations.
- Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
- Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition.
- Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
- Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution.
- Track production of completed tasks.
- Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
- Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of equipment operating experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid state and/or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to operate equipment, as applicable
- Active equipment operating certifications as required
- Able to think critically and use good judgment to solve problems
- Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment
- Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills and engage with all levels of teams, clients, business partners, and management
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to travel using various modes (e.g., automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work as needed
