Momnt is a fast-growing startup fintech company headquartered in Atlanta, GA with team members remote throughout the country.  We are looking for a Junior Merchant Underwriter to assess financial risk related to credit, fraud, and identity associated with the merchants.

In this position, you will ensure that Merchant applicants meet verification requirements and program guidelines. You will need to have meticulous attention to detail, great investigation skills, and work according to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Location: 

This role is Remote but you have to reside in the USA. Remote-based employees may occasionally travel to our Atlanta headquarters for meetings, team-building events, or as needed by role.

You must be able to work EST hours for this role.

As a Junior Merchant Underwriter, you will:

• Analyze various credit information and render an underwriting decision on the merchant application. 

The decision includes approving, decline or pend the deal

• Review merchant files in accordance with policy

• Contact merchants as necessary to verify the application presented

• Maintain detailed records of all investigations performed

• Conduct due diligence reviews of applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Validate documents provided with new applications using online publications and resources.

• Manage your hold queue and request docs when necessary.

• Stay current with sponsoring bank requirements and risk trends.

• Review incoming merchant applications in accordance with Internal Compliance and Underwriting 

Policies.

• Evaluate policies with regard to the company’s underwriting standards. 

• Provide policies recommendations- provide documentation and present to upper management spotting a trend in the underwriting that’s suspicious 

• Make a decision to accept, modify or reject a merchant application after scrutiny of all the required documents and studies regarding the risk involved.

You’d be a good fit if:

• 1 year of experience in a merchant underwriting environment or analyzing financial data.

• Proficiency with business verification and risk assessment tools such as LexisNexis, Socure, and Demyst.

• Understanding of evaluating merchant financial risk based on 3rd party data, credit reports, and other merchant attributes

• The ability to understand and make recommendations for changes to Underwriting management and 

Risk management in a dynamic fast-paced environment

• The resourceful person that can take ownership of actions and initiative

Nice-to-haves

• Fraud/Risk Management experience or deep understanding of fraud prevention techniques. 

• Fintech experience 

• Start-up experience
