About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to provide for safe and reliable operation, evaluation and maintenance of the Commerce Bank offices and banking facilities. This included HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, landscaping, roofing, parking lots, and related equipment. This position will work directly with facility manager and contractors to respond to work orders and general operation of the bank’s facilities in an effective and efficient manner.

 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the originator

  • Ensure all HVAC, electric, and plumbing equipment is maintained and in excellent working order

  • Assist with establishing schedules and methods for providing facility maintenance services; identify resource needs; review needs with facility manager; allocate resources accordingly

  • Train or coordinate training in facility maintenance and safety inspection programs for facilities and equipment

  • Assist in the preparation of various contracts, requests for proposals and reports

  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment; order supplies and tools as necessary; provide justification for equipment replacement

  • Coordinate contract services with contractors

  • Work directly with facility manager on special projects relating to increasing the efficiency of building operations and improving the work environment for Commerce Bank employees

  • Participate in the preparation of the maintenance budget. Offer recommendations, prepare cost estimates and justification for expenditures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required

  • Intermediate knowledge and ability to work with computerized building control systems including HVAC, parking, elevator, and notification programs

  • Advanced ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans and specifications

  • Strong ability to organize and implement facility maintenance operations and activities

  • Ability to perform complex maintenance duties and operate related equipment

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Significant physical activity. Physical activities may include, but are not limited to, the following on a daily basis: standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; walking between buildings; stooping; bending; kneeling; crouching; crawling; climbing; reaching; twisting; grasping; repetitive hand movements; being on ladders of various heights; and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderate to heavy amounts of weight

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, trade school or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Associate’s degree from an accredited technical institution with courses in HVAC, Electricity and Plumbing preferred.

  • 5+ years of hands-on general maintenance experience (i.e., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) required with proficiency in at least one major area
