Maintenance Manager at Ashland, LLC

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join our Pharmachem Laboratories LLC business at our Kearny, New Jersey. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Operations function. This position will report to Process Engineer.


The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
 

  • Leads and directs maintenance staff in completion of repairs at Kearny (factory & warehouse) and Totowa locations (all in NJ)

  • Organizes and validates preventative maintenance; identifies and implements improvements in maintenance program

  • Engages and interacts with local officials as needed (boiler, fire, discharge inspections)

  • Ownership of maintenance budget (spare parts, tools, and equipment)

  • On-boards, supervises, and approves work of maintenance contractors; ensures contractors follows site specific safety guidelines

  • Responsible for facilities maintenance and repair

  • Writes and reviews maintenance work instructions

  • Partners with engineering in the planning, procurement, and execution of capital projects

  • Enforces stop work authority when any employee is performing an unsafe act or working without taking prescribed safety precautions

  • Strictly adheres to quality & food safety requirements, returns equipment to operation only after quality & food safety inspection is complete

  • Participates in root cause analysis

  • Owns technical downtime metric and shares in all plant performance metrics

  • Participates and leads continuous improvement objectives

  • maintain a clean (5S) shop

  • Keeps updated services records for all equipment (including maintenance equipment)

 

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
 

  • 10 years or more experience managing a maintenance team

  • Experience with spray dryers, mills, and ribbon blenders

  • Track record of high safety performance

  • Experience operating in GMP conditions

  • Urgency to resolve breakdowns

  • Experience with MS Outlook, MS Word


The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
 

  • Experience with CMMS (ideally Maximo)

  • Experience operating in FSSC22K, ISO, NSF certified facilities

  • Familiarity with Excel
