Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia’s $1.6 billion, 20 year Railcar Maintenance Program! As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 41 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains.

 

If you are a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, looking for the chance to be part of a pinnacle project for WA and join an existing team of experienced professionals, this is for you. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will join our services team and be responsible for continuous review and improvement of the maintenance function, taking stock of resource utilisation and the introduction of new technologies, and engineering standards. This role will interface closely with the production team and our customer, by providing product knowledge and support, as well as managing technical activities on the maintenance contract. 

 

Key Responsibilities for this Role Include:

  • Identify and analyse failures and propose solutions using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

  • Support configuration and Design Change Management of the Project

  • Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve the reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems

  • Analyses the technical performances of the systems and the efficiency of the maintenance plan and processes, promoting action plans to improve them

  • Support the technical documentation within the system and any required interface with the Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS)

  • Develops standardized tools/processes improving efficiency in maintenance activities

  • Assures efficient parts codification in line with Platform rules: materials identification, codification process, interfaces with Alstom systems, quality and normative requirements.

  • Promotes the use of the latest maintenance techniques (Lean)

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or similiar

  • Previous experience working within Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance is preferred, however not essential

  • Experience in trouble shooting modifications with mechanical schematics, testing/maintenance instructions

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and liaison skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations in a changing environment
