Job Description

Motion Graphics Compositor at Arthrex, Inc. 

Main Objective:

The Compositor is directly responsible to the 3D Animation Supervisor and is responsible for developing 2D and 3D motion graphics and compositing the final refined elements received from all CG, scanning/recording, art and video craftspeople in as consistent and seamless a result as possible.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reading and annotating the script for meaning, action and continuity as necessary.

  2. Examining and evaluating the look of computer graphics, 3D animation, illustrations, and technical effects to determine visual consistency and compositing software scene file organization.

  3. Building libraries of motion graphic elements that can be used in animation projects.

  4. Testing plugins for their effectiveness and utility for animation post-production.

  5. Creating custom clips from existing animations for use in tradeshows, social media campaigns…etc.

  6. Keeping careful organization of folder and file structure including legacy versions of a project in addition to derivations of the original source animation.

  7. Conferring regularly with the 3D Animation Supervisor to apprise him or her of the progress and synchronization of the compositing work.

  8. Communicating directly with Animation, Illustration, AR/VR, Video, Web Design and Graphic Design team leaders to coordinate reception and delivery of digital assets.

  9. Communicating directly with clients through the entire project, from assessment of customer needs to delivery of final files if applicable.

Education and Experience:

  • High school education required.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics or related field preferred.

  • Experienced in digital compositing systems and techniques.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Thorough working knowledge of Windows and of the various software programs utilized in Motion Graphics and Compositing work including After Effects and Photoshop.

Basic knowledge of the various 3D software programs used throughout the CG pipeline and proper utilization of multi-pass render elements for compositing.

 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PCs, Photoshop, After Effects

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. 

 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
