We love that we get to use our engineering skills to make water supplies available, fit for purpose and sustainable for future generations. If that sounds like something that you’d like to be a part of, read on!

About the company

We are CMP Consulting Group Pty Ltd, a 100% Australian owned and operated engineering consultancy. We are leaders in the water industry, and we are passionate about the impact we can have for Australian communities through our work. Everything we do, we do to provide excellent, long-lasting outcomes for our clients and the customers that we serve. We create value for our clients and our staff by challenging the status quo that is offered by multi-national consultancies.

About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer, preferably with a wastewater focus, to join our process team. This is a critical role within the business which will see you working on a wide variety of treatment infrastructure projects in the water industry and in collaboration with other disciplines, project managers and client representatives. Hence your strong communication skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships, will be critical to your success.

What’s exciting about this role is that you will not only learn from principal engineers, but you will also have the opportunity to guide younger engineers through their learning journey.

What will you be doing?

• Undertaking conceptual, functional and detailed design of wastewater treatment plants including new treatment plants, plant upgrades and associated infrastructure;

• Undertaking process design calculations and modelling

• Preparing and reviewing project specific specifications

• Checking and reviewing process design work by others

• Supporting and participating in testing, commissioning and optimisation of treatment plants

• Undertaking master planning, feasibility studies, options assessments and troubleshooting advice to our clients

• Supporting proposals and client interfacing

About You

We would like you to have a can-do attitude and bring a consultative approach, with an ability to prioritise your work and get things done – and to enjoy what you do, like we do. Ideally you will also possess the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Engineering or a related field

• 5 + years experience in Process engineering in water/wastewater infrastructure projects

• Chartered (CPEng), or able to be chartered within an agreed timeframe with our support

• Ability to apply engineering techniques and make good decisions on engineering problems and methods

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently to budgeted hours and timeframes

Why work here?

• Work/life balance – flexible working hours, part- or full-time work, hybrid office/work from home arrangements, paid parental leave, purchased leave options

• Culture – client and community focused, inclusive of all, fun and relational connection and access to decision-makers, with a focus on wellbeing, safety, and health

• Career advancement – develop leadership skills in a growing business, paid Industry recognised association membership, support to achieve and maintain chartership, peer-to-peer training through in-house CMP University program, all expenses paid industry events

• Variety – involvement in master planning to detailed design, design and construct partnerships, and asset management, working across a diverse client base

• Impact – get involved with an awarding-winning leader in social procurement with initiatives supporting Aboriginal businesses, women in STEM, and carbon and sustainability

• We care about where we’re going – the outcomes of our work on people and planet; and how we get there – putting safety and wellbeing first and always helping each other out
