Maverick Natural Resources is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join their team. The job of Senior Systems Engineer was established for the purpose of assisting IT Management in maintaining computer and network equipment in a safe and functional operating condition; meeting the technology needs of the company; and implementing changes that would provide improved capability to support company needs.

 

Responsibilities

Virtual Environment Administration

  • Manage and maintain VMware vSphere and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment.

  • Provision and deploy Citrix virtual desktops, and published applications for both local and remote users.

  • Leverage VMware based virtual servers to quickly deploy, grow, and provide resiliency for all Maverick applications and services.

  • Administer Citrix Cloud environment, including cloud connectors, security and monitoring.

  • Stay abreast of latest virtualization technologies, practices, feature sets, and shortcomings to constantly improve functionality and performance of Maverick systems

 

Infrastructure and Network Management

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network and infrastructure equipment requiring specialized systems and network skills including physical servers, enterprise storage, switching/routing equipment, firewalls, and other various hardware.

  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain secure LAN and WAN connectivity to ensure communication between all sites, services, workstations, and field equipment.

  • Analyze and implement techniques, tools, and best practices for the most efficient means improving performance, reliability, and the resolution of infrastructure problems.

  • Manage the deployment of patches and updates to all servers, network equipment, end user workstations, as well as 3rd party application.

  • Actively maintain server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with Maverick’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

 

Windows Administration

  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Maverick’s Windows Active Directory, Office 365, Exchange Online, and Azure environments.

  • Manage maintain Windows servers and domain controllers as well as Group Policy and File, Print, DFS, DHCP, and DNS services.

  • Administer user accounts and permissions to insure secure access to various Maverick systems and files.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years working in an infrastructure role focusing on virtualization and network infrastructure

  • High level of proficiency with virtualization utilizing VMware and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops as well as associated technologies including VMware vCenter, Power CLI, and Citrix Cloud Environment.

  • Understanding of general networking concepts including routing, switching, subnets, VPN, SD-WAN, etc. Experience with Cisco Firepower, Nexus switches, and VMware Velocloud preferred.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise server and storage infrastructure. Cisco UCS and Pure Storage experience a plus.

  • Experience with Windows domain administration including Group Policy, File and Print Servers, DFS, DNS, DHCP, etc. Ideally some experience with Office 365, Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory, and other Microsoft cloud-based services.

  • Practical understanding of various enterprise technologies such as Email and Email Security (Spam Filtering), Voice over IP and general telephony, backup and recovery, productivity and collaboration, databases, various cloud offerings, etc. Knowledge of Cisco Email Security (Ironport), Zoom, Veeam, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SQL Server, AWS, Azure, etc. is a bonus.

  • Self-starter

  • Experience interfacing with various business groups ranging from end-users to senior leaders

  • Upstream oil & gas experience strongly preferred
