Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivering large scale subsea digital infrastructure projects. Projects must be run like a Profit/Loss (P/L) center. Project Managers must set project strategies in alignment with company goals. They manage projects through implementation including engineering, production, installation and testing by leading and working with a matrix-style project team across all functions and levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
Leads one or more project team(s) (simultaneously), from pre-award through project completion.
Responsible for the overall administration and coordination of work activities of the contract.
Defines cross-functional project team(s) and provides oversight and coordination of contract activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Project team includes members from engineering, procurement, sales, production, finance, marine, and quality. Project activities include but are not limited to:
Managing P/L of project
Developing project strategy and risk analysis to mitigate and reduce risks
Strategize, negotiate and write project changes
Manage contract including terms and conditions, technical requirements, scope, schedule, and budget.
Manage the customer relationship, project notices and negotiation of project changes
Inform leadership team of key project issues
Commercial Shred
Cash Flow/Billing Milestones
Escalation
Ensures all team members are aware of project strategy, objectives, risks and mitigations. Very strong and frequent communication with project team.
Serves as the main point of contact with the customer for all negotiations, decision making, scheduling, issues, and problem solving throughout the program.
Monitors and reports performance against plans to ensure that contractual, cost and schedule objectives are met while arranging modifications as required.
Provides problem resolution both internally and with the customer, and risk identification and mitigation. Must be able to deal with ambiguity and react to execution of both new plans and changes that minimize company risk.
Promotes a culture that reflects SubCom’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening regional team spirit within and across other functions.
Qualifications
Understanding and experience with the nuances and intricacies of contract language to ensure contracts are developed efficiently
Understanding of project financials
Ability to travel Internationally and domestically to support customer meetings as needed
Ability to manage and prioritize projects while meeting contractual and organizational commitments
Ability to work well in matrix-style teams with persons from different organizations, job types and cultural backgrounds
Strong leadership qualities and the ability to complete assignments with little supervisory oversight
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels including coaching, presenting, negotiating, and leading customer management meetings in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English.
Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results
Analytical and data-driven with a problem-solving mindset
Ability to have a holistic overview of complex situations and flexibility to deal effectively with difficult issues when they arise
Experience in negotiations, managing the P/L of projects, strategy development/implementation, risk management, and contract management
BA/BS degree; and at least 7 years related work experience
Experience in managing large cross-functional defense projects and an understanding of FAR/DFAR regulations or experience in managing large cross-functional construction projects, preferred
Demonstrated ability to solve problems within own position, across organizations, and with customers
General Manager and/or Entrepreneurial experience, preferred
Must have experience with the efficient uses of office tools such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint, Project, Teams
Approximately 10-30% international/domestic travel required
