Job Description

Quality Engineer SBU at Nexteer Automotive

The SBU is looking for an individual who has a passion for quality and a drive to succeed. As a Quality Engineer, the ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of manufacturing experience. To be successful in this position, the candidate will be comfortable interacting with all internal departments and external customers. Using Problem Solving methodologies is imperative in this position. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to assess areas of quality improvement and address issues / concerns. A solid understanding / compliance to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards and lean manufacturing processes. This position will report directly to the SBU Quality Supervisor.

 

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor error proofing, gauging, and testing devices for product conformance.

  • Support the day-to-day operating systems that drive competitive quality performance and warranty improvements.

  • Support Flawless Launch initiatives.

  • Provide customer service and protect the customer.

  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for process related concerns and FTQ/RTY improvements.

  • Interface with multiple disciplines (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Purchasing and Customers).

  • Work with CofA Warranty Analysis and provide customer updates.

  • Assist in strengthening, and maintaining the Quality System.

  • Coach teams to make decisions that promote continuous improvement and enhance our quality culture.

  • Assure compliance to TS-16949 Standards within responsible areas.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

BACHELORs degree required.

2 OR MORE YEARS OF QUALITY OR manufacturing experience (Recommended).

  • Experience in applying statistical analysis methods, such as SPC, sampling plans and design of experiments (DOE).

  • Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex.

  • Working knowledge of current TS16949 Quality System and ISO14001 requirements.

  • High level of oral (including presentation) and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to use basic mechanical measurement equipment, including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, go/no go gages, and optical comparators.

  • Literate in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
