Summary of Role

The Category Strategist will be responsible for leveraging insights and the category management toolkit to meet and exceed Hershey and customer financial objectives.The Category Strategist will be an expert in the pervasive application of insights to fuel growth and drive thought leadership.Key to role is synthesizing business trends, competitive trends, shopper insights, financial insights, etc., to identify opportunities and develop solutions to drive conversion and shopper satisfaction across the entire shopping journey, including brick-and-mortar and eCommerce, and all fulfillment models.

The Category Strategist will influence the development and implementation of category initiatives in support of the customer /Hershey JBP through pervasive use of insights and capabilities.

What You’ll Do

Acts as the Category Expert and trusted partner to support in the execution of strategic business plan and Joint Business Planning process driving goals for topline sales, net sales, as well as category share targets.

Provide management with objective, comprehensive, consumer-based insights and actionable recommendations based upon that informationthrough data compiled

Synthesize actionable insights using retailer data, internal/syndicated data sources, and shopper insights.

Effectively penetrate internal and external stakeholders horizontally and vertically to align on category initiatives.

Act as the indispensable consultative partner, driving projects to uncover potential growth opportunities for both the category and Hershey.

Ideate, Develop & Test strategic solutions that enhance the customer experience demonstrated to the customer through methods such as advanced POWER Storytelling skills.

Establish yourself as the leading provider of category strategies and expertise, with the customer and within the team.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience:

Category Management and/or CPG Sales experience (3-7 years)

Skills:

Display a strong drive for results and excellent communication skills.

Ability to build dynamic relationships to expand scope of influence within customer relationships to drive more influence and everyday excellence in store level execution.

Strong problem solving and project management skills, along with a proven ability to work on multiple assignments at once and ability to leverage analytic tools.

Strong technical abilities, or demonstrated capacity to learn, Excel, Circana, Power BI and Alteryx

Ability to collaborate and work well with a team while demonstrating a proactive mindset and strong initiative
