Job Description

Position Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

Reports To: Manager, Quality Assurance ExFx

Department: QA – Direct

Location: US OR Portland Office

Classification: Hourly

Primary Duties

  • Indicate all corrections, questions, or comments on the hard copy of the target language document using standardized correction symbols (proofreader marks).

  • Verify match of typestyles and layout.

  • Check headings, bullets, paragraphs, format, kerning, leading, text justification, headers and footers, indentations, page flow, artwork and graphics, call-outs, punctuation, proper names, spelling, and placement of screen captures.

  • Confirm all text has been translated into the target language.

  • Cross-check references.

  • Support LLTS’ Quality Management System (QMS) to continually improve the Division’s processes, procedures, and services; and thereby increase efficiency, productivity, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail is a must.

  • Availability for proofing projects is required.

  • Requires accuracy and patience.

  • Ability to organize time, work, and stay focused.

  • Writing/editing/proofreading experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the PC and Mac operating systems.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BS or BA degree or related experience.

  • Two or more years of experience in document production and/or quality assurance fields.

  • Experience in the localization industry a plus.

  • Experience on both PC and Mac platforms.

  • Review and proof printed documentation to assure that the target document resembles as closely as possible the source document (usually the Master English.)

The minimum and maximum full-time hourly rates for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this hourly rate information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations. Experience and education refer to LanguageLine Solutions’ current hourly rate for this position. US Remote pay range $20.60 – $22.60.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual hourly rate amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
