Under the supervision of the Sr. Director, Community Impact and Public Health and in coordination with the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for managing key components to support the successful execution of program activities with a special focus the local implementation and delivery of the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) signature programs to patients, professionals, and those at risk for kidney disease. These programs include (but are not limited to) Your Kidneys and You, Your Kidneys and Youth, patient and professional education sessions (both virtual and in-person). The Program Manager is also expected to develop relationships with potential sponsors to help underwrite these initiatives as well as track all aspects of programs in the market.
This relationship should be characterized by effective communications, a positive attitude toward the growth of the Foundation and the achievement of its mission, through mutual understanding of the goals and development objectives of the National Organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver NKF signature programs within the local community.
Execute “Your Kidneys and You” and “Your Kidneys and Youth” educational program.
Manage all logistics related to patient and professional education meetings (live and virtual), grand rounds in hospital settings and/or education sessions – including securing speakers in collaboration and coordination with the Sr. Director and MAB
Oversee all aspects of program coordination
Initiate and coordinate all marketing and communications needed to support programs in partnership with the development and communications team.
Track metrics and develop reports for each program
Maintain spreadsheets to track the planning and execution of all programs – including expenses, contracts, etc. related to programs
In collaboration with the Sr. Director, recruit, train and manage volunteers.
Enhance minority outreach and public awareness activities.
Work in collaboration with Executive Director, development, and program staff to secure funding for local programs by assisting with grant proposals.
Provide key narrative points and metrics to development team for funder reports as needed
Develop and coordinate activities to strengthen kidney awareness month public education campaign and other public awareness activities.
Assist with the local program budget.
Coordinate local Medical Advisory board meetings.
Support Walk and Gala as it pertains to program-related contacts
Performs additional duties, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s in health-related or social services field, preferred.
Minimum two-three year’s work-related experience managing programs, special events, and/or public education programs.
Experience working for a non-profit health agency is preferred.
Experience in grant proposal writing a plus
Experience working with volunteers a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, time-management and organizational skills.
Fluent in Microsoft Word applications.
Flexible for overnight business travel including the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION
Must have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness while possessing a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Maintain effectiveness under pressure. Competency in use of a multiple-line telephone, personal computer, fax machine, photocopier, and other standard office equipment. Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed. Available for overnight business travel. Must have a valid driver’s license.
