Job Summary:

Life Cycle Management is responsible for executing the Product Innovation Pipeline using the NPI process and managing existing products throughout their life cycle, including rationalization.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of project management for LCM projects. Provide status updates and reporting across projects in the LCM portfolio covering timelines actions, risks, issues and resolutions. Leading cross-functional teams to complete project milestones and deliver new products to market, where required manage stakeholders to negotiate and agree project delivery. Work collaboratively with Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Quality, Finance and Legal.

Ownership of NPI Model and LCM project management methodology ensuring that projects comply with this framework. Take responsibility for enhancements / changes where established business processes are updated or as improvements are identified through feedback. May also manage other complex business projects as needed, including project meeting facilitation.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

Management of NPI Model and LCM Project Delivery

  • Providing leadership and project management expertise to long-term cross-functional new product introductions.

  • Planning and managing approximately 4-8 LCM projects from feasibility to launch and into business as usual.

  • Identify project actions, risks, issues and resolutions.  Drives critical path item progress on new products to minimize exposure and risk on projects. Leverage experience to propose course correction via scenario planning.

  • Ownership of LCM project portfolio timelines.

  • Develops status reporting on project portfolio and defines / monitors metrics. Reports within project teams as well as to business leaders.

  • Network effectively with other departments, specifically R&D, RA/QA, GTIG, Operations and Commercial to ensure LCM projects are planned and executed to targets.

  • Identify and manage resource constraints. 

Communication

  • Endeavour to provide high levels of project satisfaction at all times, through timely deployment, regular communication and management of expectations.

  • Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized updates and presentations.

  • Defines and enhances the New Product launch processes, models, and templates.

  • Prepares the LCM meeting materials and distributes meeting minutes; chairs the project management team meetings when needed.

  • Uses change management to manage scope changes and timeline revision.

  • Identify risks / challenges and escalate according to defined structure.

  • Attending appropriate management meetings to report on projects.

Team Leadership

  • Ability to lead global cross-functional teams.

  • Establish / maintain relationships with LCM Technical, Operations and Commercial leads and stakeholders to provide a common focus / positive perception being sensitive to cultural differences.

  • Coach, develop, motivate LCM and project teams to ensure optimal performance is achieved.

  • Incorporates feedback to proactively make improvements to the NPI process and project delivery.

  • Conducts / facilitates training requirements to LCM / NPI team members and stakeholders.

Quality

  • Demonstrate an understanding of continuous improvement techniques and identify areas for continuous improvement.

  • Broad understanding functional operating systems and processes.

  • Work to ensure conformance with primary project objectives.

  • Identifies / develops alternative project management methodology / tools that may improve project success as a standard to be adopted across all projects.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some international and domestic travel required, expected between 10-15% (5-10 weeks).

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent understanding and application of project management principles.

  • Adept at multitasking, simultaneously managing multiple cross-functional projects.

  • Strong knowledge and use of project management software tools, Microsoft Office etc.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; listening and communicating on project progress; can distill complex items into clear and concise senior level updates.

  • Collaborative team building of cross functional teams through strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down the organization.

  • Self-motivated, proactively seeking out information to support the success of a project.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Work Environment:

  • Normal office environment.

  • High stress may occur, especially around product due dates.

  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job.

  • Energizing and fast-paced global role.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ project management experience.

  • Science, Technical, Operations or Commercial background a plus.

  • Ideally familiar with the development processes and challenges related to contact lenses or another similar medical device in a regulated industry.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Project management accreditation e.g., APM / IPMA or equivalent or an appropriate level of experience.

 

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $108,798.  $155,426 and may include cost of living adjustments.  The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future.  This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
