Responsibilities
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Project Manager with direct E-STATCOM or STATCOM project experience to lead utility-scale power-system projects from initiation and planning through engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and closeout. The Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and project teams, the client, equipment suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver the agreed scope safely and in accordance with contract requirements, schedule, budget, quality expectations, and applicable utility requirements.
This role combines the PMO’s core project-management responsibilities—integrated planning, client and contractor interface, cost and schedule control, forecasting, change management, reporting, and project closeout—with the coordination demands of a technically complex power-electronics installation. The Project Manager is accountable for project execution and coordination, while technical design authority remains with the assigned engineering leads and discipline-of-record personnel. Responsible for project execution, contract administration, planning and resource management.
Lead project initiation, integrated planning, execution, monitoring, change control, and closeout in accordance with PMO processes and client requirements.
Establish and maintain the project execution plan, scope baseline, work breakdown, schedule, budget, staffing plan, communications plan, risk register, and decision/action logs.
Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, quality, safety, and client activities; clarify ownership, interfaces, deliverables, and decision paths.
Lead project meetings, document decisions and action items, communicate status, and escalate material scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, or resource issues promptly.
Maintain effective client relationships and serve as a primary point of coordination for project matters.
Coordinate project delivery across the relevant stages, which may include requirements and scope definition; design and engineering; equipment specification and supplier coordination; manufacturing and factory testing; site preparation and construction; installation; site testing; commissioning; training; and transition to commercial operation.
Coordinate interfaces among the STATCOM supplier, utility/client teams, substation engineering, protection and control, civil/structural, electrical, telecommunications/SCADA, planning, operations, maintenance, construction, and commissioning teams, as applicable to the project.
Track technical and execution interfaces, assumptions, deliverables, reviews, approvals, and dependencies. Ensure issues are assigned to the appropriate technical owner and resolved or escalated in time to protect project milestones.
Coordinate vendor submittals, technical reviews, requests for information, equipment and material status, factory and site test plans, testing schedules, commissioning readiness, and punch-list resolution.
Support outage and site-access planning with the client and project team when required; coordinate field activities and project walkdowns in accordance with site and client requirements.
Monitor supplier and contractor performance against approved scope, schedule, quality, and commercial requirements; identify potential changes and obtain required approvals before committing out-of-scope work.
