Job Description

As an Application Engineer III on the OEM Team, you will provide technical leadership for strategic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers across North America. You will combine hands-on application engineering, customer engagement, and commercial insight to influence platform specifications, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and deliver measurable value through abrasive products, processes, and systems. This highly collaborative role partners with customers and cross-functional teams—including Sales, Product Management, R&D, Marketing, and Manufacturing—to move technical projects from initial scope through testing, validation, implementation, and documentation.

What will you do?

• Lead complex customer application projects: Plan and execute engineering evaluations, trials, and testing for key technical accounts, OEMs, and priority markets.

• Translate needs into solutions: Define project requirements, troubleshoot technical challenges, and align abrasive system recommendations with OEM and end-user specifications.

• Validate and communicate value: Develop clear technical documentation, analyses, and presentations that demonstrate performance, productivity, quality, and commercial value.

• Build strategic customer relationships: Engage with end users, OEMs, technical centers, and technology partners to identify opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and support growth.

• Shape technical strategy: Collaborate with the Senior Application Engineering Technical Leader and business partners on programs that defend existing business, improve customer performance, and expand market share.

• Advance technology and capability: Translate customer needs into new product characteristics, contribute to process measurement and analysis methods, support intellectual property generation, and enhance internal technical capabilities.

• Develop others: Support internal and external training on abrasive products, processes, and application technology.• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.

• Five or more years of experience in abrasive application engineering or a closely related technical field.

• Five or more years of experience in Sales or Product Management, with in-depth knowledge of abrasives.

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and confidence working in laboratory, production, and customer-site environments.

• Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability, mechanical aptitude, and hands-on project leadership.

• Experience with abrasive products, processes, and system-level application challenges. • Ability to work independently, manage projects from inception through completion, and collaborate effectively in a highly matrixed organization.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is preferred.

• Ability to travel approximately 50% to customer sites, technical centers, OEM locations, and internal meetings.Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
