Responsibilities

What you’ll be challenged to do:

TranSystems is seeking a Civil Engineering intern interested in learning career skills through assisting our experienced Civil Engineers in the design process and preparation of plan sets and studies for a wide range of project types. This position is based out of our Berkeley, California office.

  • Participate in all project phases, from initial conceptual design to construction document production

  • Support project team through completion of entry-level tasks

  • Organize files/materials, conduct research and assist in preparation of studies and reports

  • Assist with the preparation of construction drawings

 

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Currently enrolled in a program to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Will have completed a minimum of three years of an undergraduate program before start of the internship

  • EIT desired but not required

  • Possess basic knowledge with use of Autocad or Microstation

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • Available to work a minimum of 12 hours a week during the Winter 2023 semester (in-office work preferred but remote arrangement may be considered for Winter)

 

 Work Environment:

  • The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car. The employee is occasionally required climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10-25 pounds.  No experience required. 

 

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or NY City, TranSystems is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $19-$23 per hour.
