Plans, coordinates, and directs all activities related to the operational, budgetary, staffing, project management, quality assurance, and training aspect of the Engineering Department. In addition, it is the responsibility of the Engineering Manager to provide appropriate reports and representation to support the interdepartmental communication requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates and implements Engineering Department business plan.
Establishes and directs annual Engineering operating budget and monitors actual expenditures to budgetary expenditures.
Plans and provides cost justification of capital expenditures.
Hires and provides performance evaluations of engineering personnel. Evaluates and awards compensation adjustments for engineering personnel.
Plans/schedules projects and organizes engineering personnel responsibilities according to project requirements. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects such as order configuration, product design, value engineering, research and development, and product testing.
Establishes quality standards and measurement techniques. Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
Establishes training programs to develop the skills of engineering personnel.
Generates reports and provides necessary communications with other departmental functions regarding engineering responsibilities.
Represents the Engineering Department in Executive meetings.
Performs as the Engineering Manager MRP Implementation representative for all product divisions.
Responsible for all aspects of the management/ supervision of the Engineering Department.
Education/Experience:
Minimum BSME OR BSEE
Minimum 8 years experience in performing engineering duties
Minimum 6 years experience in managing people
Minimum 4 years experience in project management
