Process Engineer at Fortescue Metals Group Ltd

Fortescue is now consistently producing over 180 million tonnes of iron ore per year and has an exciting future ahead as it diversifies its business to become an integrated, global green energy and resources company.

Process Engineer

Work Location: Solomon. Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster: 8 days on / 6 days off

Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying process issues and opportunities for improvement to improve the process plant performance, report on process status and comparing actual performance against target key performance metrics.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Develop and implement cost-reduction initiatives

  • Report on the progress of plant trials and other test work.

  • Be accountable for implementing process improvements in the plant. Monitoring such improvements and reporting on actual performance.

  • Provide technical assistance and support to production and maintenance personnel

  • Apply scientific and engineering know-how to support site safety initiatives

  • Operate as a technical reference point and mentor for production personnel while ensuring work outputs are in line with strategic and business plans.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification – Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering  or related discipline

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the industry

  • Experience with minerals processing particularly Iron Ore

  • Advanced PC skills and computer literacy including process data historians, SAP, Tableau

  • Excellent communication skills
