Sr. Project Manager at JBT Corporation

Overview

Key liaison for the timely and correct completion of the customer order for each project.  The Project Manager will be responsible for the interdepartmental coordination associated with the manufacture of the customer ordered product and will coordinate all contact with the customer regarding the project scheduling, submittals, installation, and resolution of all internal and external issues that develop during the completion of the work.  The Project Manager will also be responsible for the financial management of the contracts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary customer contact for all issues relating to the engineering, manufacture, shipping, and installation of the customer order including changes to the contract.

  • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external customers to resolve all issues arising from the performance of the customer’s specification and other contract terms and conditions.

  • Review and detail contract specifications and contract requirements to ensure company compliance and customer satisfaction. Identify all pertinent contractual information and notify applicable departments and/ or personnel for needed action.

  • Prepare all necessary submittals to meet customer requirements including engineering submittals and/ or drawings, product data sheets, load analysis data material samples, column data and test reports, etc. Attend all pre-construction meetings or other customer required meetings.

  • Prepare and maintain job orders, which include detailed specification information on all product lines.  Secure required definition in a timely fashion to accommodate engineering and manufacturing production schedules.

  • Prepare and maintain project schedules for bid & proposals and contract awarded projects.  Schedules will include a detailed breakdown of all timelines for the completion of the contracted project and may be cost loaded.  Coordinate all milestone dates and any changes with the appropriate internal and external customers.

  • Schedule all shipping and installation activities associated with the various projects.  Monitor all changes that could impact the designated shipping and installation dates and coordinate all such changes with the appropriate departments and system software packages.

  • Monitor and coordinate all project scope of work changes. This includes the preparation of Request for Quote forms, review of change order request forms for accurate descriptions and pricing of work scope change, preparation and submittal of job order addendum to implement the changed scope of work and complete the final negotiations with the customer of any outstanding or contested issues.

  • Responsible for resolving internal concession(s) with engineering and manufacturing departments concerning issues that do not require customer approval and that meet form, fit and function.

  • Responsible for resolving external concession(s) with the customer that involve non-compliance with customer specifications.  Act as primary contact with the customer to negotiate and finalize an acceptable resolution that either includes the implementation of an alternative material, device or design or reconfirms the original specification requirement.

  • Coordinate the resolution of missing, damaged, or incorrect parts that are required for the completion of the project scope of work when customer-service personnel are unavailable or incapacitated.  Ensures the order entry of such parts in the company software system to provide the timely delivery to the appropriate field-service representative and/ or customer-service technician.

  • Initiate the scheduling of all customer inspections and/ or visits and provide the customer and/ or its representative access to appropriate company personnel to resolve all outstanding matters that may be presented.

  • Coordinate damage control and/ or problem resolution of all issues that may materialize throughout the life of the project.  Take necessary steps including the notification of appropriate personnel to deter and resolve potential and outstanding issues.

  • Prepare written reports and business correspondence, coordinate the invoicing and collection of payments, assure the completion of contract requirements, and interface with customers and company employees at all levels of the organizations.

  • Special training includes the use of project management software packages to facilitate the implementation of job assignments.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with major in engineering or technical science or five years related experience and/or training.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

This position requires the following computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
