aunched in 2018, The Movement Cooperative (TMC) is a nonprofit founded with the aim of creating a cooperative community addressing these structural challenges. Currently, our membership stands at nearly 75 national member organizations and 500 state-based organizations covered under our licenses. We leverage the collective purchasing power of our membership to secure cooperatively held data and technology licenses shared across membership and invest in common infrastructure like technical staff to support our members in their work. TMC is also a member cooperative — our board is elected by and made up of our member organizations.

 

Position Overview

Do you want to support a mission-driven organization that aligns your philosophical and professional passions? The HR Generalist is a self-starter, fueled by integrity, and able to manage their own workflow. This is a new position and you will have the flexibility to make it your own. This is a regular, part-time position, we expect the HR Generalist to work 20-25 hours per week during core business hours.

 

While this is a regular, part-time position, the HR Generalist will be an essential member of the People & Culture team. They will support the People & Culture team ensuring smooth and efficient HR operations. The HR Generalist will have an administrative focus with oversight of important functions of the employee lifecycle such as staffing, payroll, compensation, and benefits. At The Movement Cooperative we understand that our organization thrives when our personnel thrive, and that starts by hiring the right People & Culture Team. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding and offboarding, including new hire orientation, entering data into HR information systems, and auditing for accuracy and compliance

  • Point of contact for employees in relation to benefits

  • Administer and interface with TMC’s PEO and aid in the administrative details of any PEO transitions

  • Oversight of smooth payroll administration and benefit changes

  • Partner with hiring managers to administer efficient recruiting and interviewing processes and improve candidate experience.

  • Maintenance of employee records

  • Assist in the upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart

  • Assist in executing and creating HR standard operating procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for people operations

  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs

  • Proactively participate in People & Culture team 

  • Provide support to the Director of People & Culture and Program Manager of People Development, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer

While a very young organization, The Movement Cooperative is dedicated to providing all employees an excellent work environment that includes competitive salary, remote virtual office, and flexible scheduling. Regular, part-time employees are eligible for the same long and short-term disability, life insurance and retirement benefits provided to full-time employees. Regular, part-time employees are eligible for annual leave, sick leave, paid holidays and professional development benefits on a prorated basis. The salary for this position is $30,000 – $45,000 annually. This is a regular, part-time position, we expect the HR Generalist to work 20-25 hours a week.
